Influence of the Optical Fiber Strain on the Availability of Fiber-Optic Communication Lines

We provide an overview of the reliability evaluation technique of fiber optical communication line with account of influence of optical fiber strain. The reliability is estimated by the readiness index. Theoretical researches are performed using theory of Markov chains and probabilistic mathematical modeling. We show that allowed value of the readiness index enables determining limit rate of FOCL maintenance.The work was performed with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation within the scope of the base part of a State Assignment within the sphere of scientific activity (Project No. 8.9334.2017/8.9).
