Design and Optimization of Mini Underwater Robot Based on ANSYS and CAESES

At the beginning of the design for mini underwater robot, research on the hull profile of it can obtain better technical indexes such as rapidity and maneuverability. To improve the rapidity of mini underwater robot, a method of designing and optimizing the hull profile of it is presented. In this method, a hull was selected as the parent from the common axisymmetric revolution bodies, by analyzing and calculating the compositions of resistance, the applicability of different turbulence models to predict resistance performance of mini underwater robot was compared, it provides the basis for the rationality of mini underwater robot hull profile design. Then, with the fully parametric modelling function of CAESES software and the automatic optimization function of ANSYS software, the parent profile was optimized. The result showed that the mini underwater robot hull total resistance is reduced by about 12% compared with the parent after 300 samples optimized, and its rapidity had also been improved obviously.
