A data collection algorithm with mobile elements in wireless sensor networks

In traditional wireless sensor network, sensor nodes relay the data packets to the sink through multi-hop routing. The major energy consumption is the energy consumed on data transmission. Hence, mobile elements are introduce to collect event packets in the interesting area. However, in many proposed data collection algorithm with mobile elements, long data delay is the main problem. In order to solve this problem, a data collection algorithm based on mobile elements is proposed in this paper. Mobile elements are dispatched to collect event packets based on the moving window mechanism. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce the data delay effectively.
