Analysis of driving characteristics and crash detection

In this study, the analysis of the driving characteristics of the drivers is made. For this purpose, vehicle movements were monitored with 3 axis accelerometer. Special algorithms have been developed to detect vehicle movements with the data collected from accelerometer. The developed algorithms have been tested on the vehicle in real environment by loading it into the electronic control unit designed for this purpose. In the tests, the conditions that the vehicle may encounter during the journey are created. Sudden braking, acceleration, sharp cornering, skidding, reversing, passing over the crest, falling of the pit, etc. scenarios have been realized and verified with the data read. It has been found that the obtained data is a suitable method for deriving the driving characteristics of the drivers. An alarm condition has been created when the driving characteristic is considered risky. It has also emerged that this data can also be used for the detection of an accident situation.
