Delay time Petri Nets based decision model to decrease the risk of false security alarms

A Delay Time Petri Nets (DTPN) based model is proposed to decrease the number and limit the immediate consequences of false alarms. The monitoring of home entry points was considered, as well as the motion detection. In this purpose, different type of sensors were chosen for various sceneries. The system has a modular structure, useful for cases in which groups of sensors, for different types of detections and placed in different locations, must be activated or inactivated. The main philosophy of the model is based on the redundancy of the signaling and the possibility to start, by owner and by the operators from the first alarm center, the video surveilling system only after the receiving of consecutive alarm signals. The time intervals on the arcs of the Petri Nets based model were determined considering the corresponding time values of the real operations of the process and respecting the required conditions which lead to the imposed sequence of transitions in the controlled system. The procedure facilitates a pre-analysis of the situation before the triggering of general alarms. The proposed model was experimentally validated.
