Analysis and design of proportional-resonant controllers based on pole placement approach

This work presents the design of a current controller applied to a half-bridge DC/AC converter. Proportional-Resonant (PR) controllers are largely used in order to track sinusoidal signals without steady-state error. However, usually the controller's resonant gain is empirically obtained. This paper analyses the design based on polynomial pole placement technique and gives a analytical and systematic way to design the controller. A modified resonant controller is proposed in order to overcome some drawbacks found in the classical resonant controller. Finally, a comparison between the design approaches covered in this paper is made.
