Analysis of undervoltage load shedding by conservation voltage reduction

The proposed work objective is to evaluate the impact on the quality voltage profile during a undervoltage load shedding applied by conservation voltage reduction. Computational simulations were carried out using the distribution system feeder data of a Brazilian electric utility. Quadratic load models (ZIPV) were applied according to ANEEL instructions in order to compare the On-Load Tap Changer operation during a conservation voltage reduction with the number of consumers not suplied during a direct load shedding. Electrical simulations were performed with OpenDSS and Python programming language. Some cases were evaluated in order to measure load shedding performance and thus undervoltage load shedding simulation presented efficient results when compared with traditional load shedding methods.
