The reactive energy compensation of linear loads using a switched electronic load

The main focus of this paper is to analyze how an electronically-switched load influences the reactive power in a bus and how it can be used to compensate the reactive flow of linear loads. It is known that consumers of group A are penalized by the Reactive Energy Surplus (ERE), which is related to the power factor of this Consumer Unit (U.C.). On the other hand, some studies have shown that some electronic loads, depending on their type of switching, can inject or consume reactive power from the bus, through the optics of the electric meters connected to them. This article presents measurements in linear loads with characteristics of high reactance and in an electronic didactic load, called Three Phase Flex Dimmer. The Dimmer Flex electronic load is similar to the ones found in Consumer Units installations, which makes it possible to analyze how they can act in the compensation of the linear load reactive flow, as seen by the meters, and its influence on the charging system.
