Power systems contingency analysis using bus impedance matrix

The main objective of this paper is to analyze different contingencies on the power system using a distinctive approach. The first stage of this methodology is to build, step-by-step, the bus impedance matrix using an alternative method based on an algorithm, forming it directly from system parameters, each element at a time. This way, it will not be required transformations neither inversions of matrices. Contingencies will be considered as extra elements additions, consisting of punctual modifications in the bus impedance matrix. To obtain the corresponding voltages on the system, the currents used come from the base case, resulting on approximate results. In this paper, the methodology is tested on IEEE 14 bus and IEEE 30 bus systems.
