Applying the improved TR-IR-UWB receiver in hospitals using modified Hadamard MATRIX

The ultra-wideband (UWB) system has been developing in the last three decades by modifying the existing or the conventional system. This paper deals with one of the latest modifications as the conventional transmitted reference impulse radio ultra-wideband (CTR-IR-UWB) is modified and then used basing on IEEE 802.15.3a model with parameters which suit the rich multipath components in the x-ray room in the hospitals. Hadamard matrix is modified to successfully outfit CTR-IR-UWB in order to achieve two important purposes: total removal of inter-pulse interference (IPI) and enhancing the efficiency of the communication system. The simulation technique is carried out using existing parameters developed for CM1, line-of-sight (LOS) model over 0-4 m and used by adding a block modified Hadamard matrix (BMHM) in transmitter and receiver. Adding BMHM serves in imposing extremely short time delay compared with the maximum spread time and utilizing a modified Hadamard matrix to completely remove inter-pulse interference (IPI) by considering its orthogonality and balance. The signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) is improved within a range of 1.74 dB and 2.33 dB. . The S/N results show that at same number of symbols, 4 or 8, S/N improves but becomes less efficient for higher number of users due to the multi-user interference. For the same number of users, 2 or 8, S/N shows less improvement due to higher number of symbols.
