Performance analysis of solar power fed induction motor drive along with resonant converter

Day by day the sources of conventional energy are getting depleted. Finding alternative sources of energy is a need of today. Solar energy is abundantly available. The only drawback of this is its cost of processing and storing. If properly utilized and processed, it will be a great concern. In this paper, resonant converter is proposed to increase the voltage level of Solar PV cell required for driving an AC drive. As compared to conventional Inverter transformer topologies and Boost converter, the resonant converter has higher efficiency, smaller size of circuitry; hence the cost is reduced. This paper gives idea about the proposed scheme for 3 ph induction motor drive fed from solar PV cells with resonant converter. To validate the proposed scheme, simulation results are obtained and shown for a 3 ph, 440V, 2.1 kW Induction Motor.
