An efficient mapping of workflow tasks in infrastructure as a service cloud platforms

Workflow scheduling is a process of mapping the tasks to resources in a heterogeneous distributed environment. Cloud computing plays a vital role for scheduling the workflow using Infrastructure as a Service with Virtual Machines. The efficiency of the workflow scheduling framework depends on makespan and cost. In this paper we have proposed an enhanced vertical clustering algorithm to minimize the makespan of the workflow. The Virtual Machines are selected dynamically based on their configuration setup. The tasks are grouped in to cluster and given to the same VM. The experiments were conducted in a workflow simulator and the results show that our proposed algorithm is efficient compared to the state of art algorithms.
