Methods to determine fractal dimension to detect branch retinal vein occlusion

Retinal Vein Occlusion is the disorder in retina which can lead to sudden vision loss. Branch Retinal Vein occlusion (BRVO) is a type of occlusion which is most commonly seen. Using fractal analysis, Branch retinal vein occlusion can be detected. The paper focuses on methods to determine fractal dimension for detection of Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion. The methods used are box-counting and Mass-radius method. There is another disorder which leads to vision loss that is diabetic retinopathy. The study of fractal analysis on diabetic retinopathy has been done earlier using the same methods. The algorithm for mass-radius method and box-counting method used for detection of branch retinal vein occlusion is been discussed in this paper. The details of implementation work using mass-radius method has been presented. Also the comparative analysis of fractal dimension of normal retina and occluded retina is studied.
