On alleviating exposed terminal problem in IEEE802.11-based Ad-Hoc network — A review

Ad-hoc network is one of popular usage of wireless network. It gains some popularity in military, rescue operations, and meetings and conversation because Ad-hoc network does not have fix infrastructure. In Ad-hoc network, there are two problems that often occur, hidden terminal and exposed terminal. There are many solutions offered to overcome hidden terminal and exposed terminal. In this paper, researched solution of exposed terminal problem is reviewed. There are two approaches that have been found: cross layer design and layer modification. Cross layer design consists of cross between physical and link layer, and cross between link and network layer. The approaches of one-layer design is link layer modification.
