Development of epidemiology data map visualization system

The epidemic information is necessary for public health. A survey of 32 Thai people found that 38% of users, who are interested in epidemiology, do not know how to access the public data. Although some of them know how to access, a few of them think the display format is difficult to understand. Rabies is one of zoonosis which the outbreak is in summer. This disease is transmitted from animals to humans. Temperatures have an influence on the outbreak. This paper aims at finding proper symbol for displaying related of data such as human disease, animal disease, temperature and rainfall. We further develop an epidemiological mapping system. To find proper symbol set for displaying and evaluate the proposed system, a questionnaire was distributed to 112 general users. The result of the survey show that 80% of users choose symbol set 1. About 10% of people agree that the system is most useful, 38% very useful, 39% useful and 88% overall useful. Both groups of users, especially the people who do not know how to access, will gain most benefit from using our proposed system.
