C63 Subcommittee 3-international EMC standards coordination

Subcommittee 3 of the Accredited Standards Committee on electromagnetic compatibility, C63 is responsible for monitoring and/or coordinating international standards dealing with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), especially with respect to standards developed by the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR). Other international standards, such as those developed by IEC/TC 77, are monitored and coordinated to the extent possible. CISPR is a special committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) responsible for developing standards for controlling interference to radio communications. These standards, while voluntary, often form the basis of national regulations for controlling interference from a variety of unintentional radiators (e.g., microwave ovens, computers, vehicles, radio receivers, medical diathermy apparatus, etc.). The author lists the CISPR Subcommittees and some of the more important CISPR publications.
