Research activities in Japan on biological effects of electromagnetic fields emitted by cellular phones

Recent research efforts into the safety problems of cellular phones carried out in Japan are reviewed. The results of the medium-term liver bioassay of rats exposed to 900 MHz and 1.5 GHz TDMA waveforms are summarized with a discussion on the findings. Some other ongoing studies promoted by the committee organized by the Japanese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications are also briefly reviewed.
