An unified online fault-tolerant mechanism for FIFO faults in network-on-chip router

To solve the problem of real-time fault tolerance for FIFO in the network-on-chip router on the multi-core interconnection network, a novel unified online fault-tolerant mechanism is proposed. Firstly, a high coverage transparent testing algorithm for FIFO is put forward according to the characteristics of the router FIFO. Then, the design of the circuit added to the FIFO which can detect and tolerate the fault is obtained. Finally, the experiment is conducted and the result shows that the throughput and latency can be improved with the FIFO faults injected and the area overhead of router is increased by 12%.
