Radiometric cross-calibration of Göktürk-2 with Landsat 8

Radiometric calibration studies need to be done during the life-time of a satellite. In this paper, reflectance-based cross calibration was conducted at Tuz Golu LandNet site in 2016 using Göktürk-2 and Landsat 8 imageries. Using near-simultaneous images of the satellites under the same atmospheric conditions reduces the effect caused by reflection differences of light. Cross calibration method can be conducted when the satellite sensors have similar bandwith. Even though observing visible bands is the basic approach, filter transmittance and sensor reactivity is not same for all satellite sensors. Therefore, the differences in the relative spectral response should be corrected. In this study a new method has not been proposed. A method already exists in the literature was applied to Göktürk-2 imagery for the first time. In addition, another improvement in this study is suggesting a new approach by converting ground reflectance measurements into top of atmosphere reflectance. Comparing related study with the similar studies in literature similar success has been attained.
