Comparison between HC, FOCV and TG MPPT algorithms for PV solar systems using buck converter

In this work, the behavior of the maximum power point is simulated for different temperature and solar irradiation values using three methods known in the literature by Temperature Gradient (TG), Fractional Open-Circuit Voltage (FOCV) and Hill Climbing (HC). For each method, the MPPT controller acts on the duty cycle of a buck converter which is associated with the MSX-60 PV module. The simulation under the PSIM software showed that the TG method is well positioned compared to the FOCV method with an efficiency difference of 3%, which leads to the conclusion that the open circuit voltage can be directly deduced by the measurement of the temperature. Despite the success of the TG method, the HC method is still the best method thanks to its simplicity and its least cost.
