Applying thermal electric cooler and forced convection to cooling the RC facades which contain chimney pipes structure

This study proposed a chimney pipe structure for reinforced concrete façades. The chimney effect of the chimney pipe structure can help reduce heat accumulation in concrete façades. However, experiments showed that the chimney effect had a limited cooling effect on façades; therefore the design was changed to include forced convection in the chimney structure to increase thermal convection and heat exchange in the chimney, enhancing the cooling effect of concrete façades. This system can limit the heat transferred from façades to interior rooms, which can limit air-conditioning costs. Finally, the study proved that the addition of a cooling chip to reduce the temperature of forced convection exerted a measurable cooling effect on concrete façades.
