Design of Hilbert antenna as partial discharge sensor

This paper deals with the design of Hilbert antenna as partial discharge sensor. Hilbert antenna was designed to measure partial discharge induced electromagnetic wave in the frequency from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. Dimension of antenna (such as outer dimension, conductor length and conductor width), number of iteration, feed point position, substrate material and thickness affect the frequency response of the antenna. The outer dimension of the antenna is defined 7 cm at the third iteration of Hilbert so that the input impedance of antenna is approximate at 50 Ohm and resonance frequency at 953 MHz. Feed point was selected by trying every angle of the segment starting from its midpoint The selection of the feed point 2 of the Hilbert antenna resulted in that the working frequency of the antenna approaches the desired operating frequency obtained by the calculation (f=953 MHz) and VSWR was close to 1 so that the antenna is expected to work optimally.
