A state of the art review of Internet risks on children

Children use Internet in a daily activity both at home and school. Despite the benefits that Internet might has for children, there are risks surrounded children that we must recognise and be careful of it. Internet use has serious risks including child sexual harassment and child pornography. Unfortunately, cyber criminals take advantages of technological advancement and exposed young people as they are the most valuable at any society. It is evident that the more children gain opportunities online, the more likely they are to encounter increased Internet risks. If parents are not aware of these risks and no protections are taken, children are most likely to face serious dangers and become the victims for cyber criminals. An extreme Internet use have been documented worldwide. However, it is common problem among children as confirmed in numerous international studies that Internet usage has been related to both good and bad influences on different aspects of children' lives. This paper aims to identify and analyse risks surrounded children when they access Internet and investigates the main factors that play role in decreasing or increasing these risks.
