Usable Multimedia Applications

Usable Multimedia Applications is the title of the special session at ICMCS'99 that covers issues related to the development of usable multimedia applications that can facilitate users' comprehension and interaction with the information being presented. Evaluation problems are addressed, with a special focus on usability, which represents a significant aspect of the overall quality of any multimedia application. Models, principles, and guidelines of good design are discussed. The role of design cannot be neglected: the quality of the development process and of the resulting products are largely affected by the quality of design. In this sense, design and evaluation are strongly interrelated.
