Lightwave amplification in carbon nanotubes

In this paper, we have investigated the possibility of terahertz (THz) amplification in zigzag carbon nanotube (ZCNT). The semiclassical Boltzmann transport equation with a constant relaxation time has been used for a ZCNT under simultaneous AC and DC bias fields. The I-V curve with negative differential conductivity (NDC) has been illustrated for this structure. THz amplification can be deduced in the region that the NDC has been occurred. The impact of angular frequencies and diameters of ZCNT on NDC have also been investigated.
