Topological properties of the illuminated arrays of mesoscopic rings

Quantum spin Hall phase is shown to emerge in a two-dimensional arrays of polariton rings where time-reversal symmetry is broken due to the application of out-of-plane magnetic field. Later, a zigzag array of polariton rings are studied and topologically protected edge-states are demonstrated where each of the edge states is doubly degenerate, and the wavefunctions of the two degenerate states are localized at opposite ends of chain — reminiscent of Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model.
