Modified new-attempt routing protocol for wireless body area network

A consistent high throughput and reliable energy efficient protocol for wireless body area network has been proposed in this paper called NEW-ATTEMPT. The protocol works on heterogeneous sensor network in the human body. To frontward a data from node to node a vital cost function is used. This cost function is calculated using the distance between the nodes, remaining energy, i.e, residual and the rate of the sending data. The concept of residual energy in WBAN is used to make the protocol more energy efficient. Distance parameter is used to select the best node so that delay can be avoided. In a health monitoring system, it is required to constantly monitor and send information to the sink node without the delay and also considering the lifespan of each node (lifespan of node is very less). This required some energy efficient protocol. Simulation is conducted using MATLAB and results in maximizing network lifetime and improves the lifetime period of nodes and makes them alive. The proposed NEW-ATTEMPT protocol achieves 28% more steadiness period and 0.3% longer lifetime of a network. NEW-ATTEMPT protocol consumes low energy till 60% of simulation time. Through these comparative results, it shows that the proposed work performs up to the mark and increases QoS to WBAN to its maximum extent.
