Routing protocol based on sleep scheduling and tree cluster structure in wireless sensor network

Sensor nodes have limited energy supplied and non rechargeable battery. Each sensor node consumed energy in sensing, data processing and communication. In order to prolong lifespan of the sensor nodes, only the data transmission has been assigned to sensor nodes. A variety of approaches has been developed to save the energy consumption. In our approach, we have designed a protocol by turning off radio (sleep mode) of sensor nodes which are transmitting almost same information. The less energy will be consumed in the present technique which enhances the lifetime of the network due to the removal of data redundancy. The use of tree cluster structure further reduces the energy consumption by constructing a tree in which cluster-head is taken as root. The simulation indicates that this protocol has better results in comparison to earlier protocols like LEACH and PEGASIS.
