Parallel data compression algorithms

The parallel versions of the three data compression algorithms namely i) Block Truncation Coding ii) White Block Skipping iii) Laplasian Pyramid Coding Method were developed and evaluated. The paraIlelizing scheme is applicable to a class of parallel computers. It is shown that the proposed algorithms can be implemented on the existing SIMD computers.
