Design of a web-based Geographic Information Systems spatial for distribution of historic site

National Archaeological Center is a government institution that is now under the Ministry of Education and Culture. The institute has done a lot of research, the a lot of findings of the nation's cultural heritage has been researched and stored. One of the cultural heritage that's being studied is about the historical sites. Number of historical sites in the area of the island of Java from year 2006-2014 conducted by the National Archaeological Center (Arkenas) reaches 1016 sites. Judging from the statistical data held by Arkenas, so many of the findings that have been made by researchers and so many cultural heritage of the Indonesian nation. But in terms of preservation, recording, and in providing information to the public about the importance of cultural heritage, for now is lacking. Thats why the role of technology is needed particularly in recording and providing information about historical sites. Therefore, researcher built a system that aims to produce a web-based Geographic Information Systems the distribution of the locations of the discovery of historical sites as well as to provide information on historical sites to public. For system development methods, researchers used Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools that are modeled with the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Using PHP as programming language and MySQL as database also Google Maps API to display the map. This research delivers a system of geographical information about the distribution and location of historical sites in the region of Java island.
