A detection method of port fuel injector spray distribution

The term of “spray distribution” implies an intrusive measurement of the spray to obtain the distribution of the fuel mass in selected spatial dimensions, is an important indicator to evaluate the performance of the injector. To measure the quality of spray, the traditional manual weighing method has many problems: low accuracy and complex operation and so on. Therefore, a detection method based on machine vision and image processing is designed. The method using high density pan and high precision CCD camera with collection the liquid level of the height of target area, obtain the injector spray distribution map by making use of the relationship between volume and height of liquid. Experimental results show that the method can quickly and accurately get the spray distribution characteristics of port fuel injectors and accuracy rates are more than 93%.
