Methods of estimating wave parameters using frequency domain analysis algorithm

Measurement of ocean wave parameters has found its application in many shipping industries and for protection of coastal regions. Measuring significant wave parameters offshore is more complex yet produces accurate results. The success of any operation conducted in the ocean environment may depend on the height of the seas, the direction of the seas, and the wave period. In this work, in-situ measurement technique is used, where the Significant Wave Height and peak period are calculated from the recorded elevation data using off shore equipments. This work gives a detailed view about the process of finding the significant parameters from the recorded data. In this work a wave algorithm has been generated to find the wave parameters from the recorded elevation data. This work is a cost effective method for measuring wave parameters than the existing methods which uses images, video, satellite images, etc.
