Applying a hybrid model of BRDF function to determine parameters of solar concentrators

The paper presents a new hybrid model of BRDF function that calculates the parameters of solar concentrator surface. The concentrator increases value of the luminous stream which falls on the photovoltaic surface. The algorithm applies a combination of the elements of Torrance-Sparrow model and HTSG model of the BRDF function. The software using this algorithm calculates the parameters of surface of the solar concentrator, for example: value of half-angle, reflectance, coefficients of scattering and absorption, boundary scattering angle and surface roughness of a particular material. The simulation of the surface roughness of selected materials has been performed for different materials. It presents the dependence of the efficiency of the concentrator system from participating components fixed in the reflected stream. The results of the simulation allows select the best material for construction of the concentrator of solar radiation.
