Polarization purity improvement method for linear series-fed antenna arrays

A technique for polarization purity improvement designated for linear series-fed microstrip antenna arrays is shown. The proposed method is realized with the use of additional radiating elements introduced at an opposite side of a feeding line and does not increase complexity of a feeding network. Moreover, the polarization purity improvement method allows for both suppressing the orthogonal polarization near broadside and increasing the directivity of a linear antenna array. The proposed concept has been verified by experimental results of the antenna arrays operating at 10 GHz.
