A V-model framework for the certification against the Annex R of IEC 60335-1: Class B appliances

Motivated by challenges in safety certification, this paper presents a framework that facilitates the organization of safety evidence regarding the Annex R of IEC 60335-1, i.e. the safety standard for household and similar electrical appliances. Based on the argumentation-induced evidence structure, safety evidence is systematically formulated by making safety claims, providing arguments, and identifying corresponding documents. Using the V-model development process as basis, three groups of safety evidence and their mapping to document samples are proposed as the mean to constitute required information.
