Design, assembly and calibration of an optoelectronic device that measures three wavelengths in the near infrared for breast cancer early detection

Early detection of cancer is an important subject to improve patient's prognostic. Now breast cancer is one of more frequent cause of death in women around the world and new technologies to its early detection are being studied, e.g. optical properties of breast tissue. To contribute with the cancer early detection in our country, we developed an optoelectronic device named OXINIR. OXINIR allows to detect intensity changes into electromagnetic radiation due to alterations in tissue. In this study we emulated optical characteristics of breast tissue by diluted India ink solutions as a Phantom and used these to calibrate OXINIR.
