Automatic landing of animal tracking Lighter-Than-Air Systems (LTAS) on the recharging platform

Basic concept of stratospheric platforms or rigid airships is applied more than 100 years and designed by the German constructor Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. Zeppelin's ideas were first formulated in 1874 and developed in detail in 1893. Zeppelins were first flown commercially in 1910 by Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-AG (DELAG), the world's first airline in revenue service for carried fare-paying passengers. After that, were designed a special stratospheric High Altitude Platforms (HAP) for different applications including communication systems as backhaul to the terrestrial telecommunication systems. The first HAP stations are at a similar stage of development as communication satellites were in the 1960s, designed to fly or float above controlled airspace up to the stratosphere. In the meantime were developed similar projects known as Stratospheric Communication Platforms (SCP), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Lighter-Than-Air Systems (LTAS). This paper describes LTAS solutions for tracking, monitor and control of wild animals. Firstly were established VHF Radio systems for animal tracking and during more than three decades, commercial Mobile Satellite Systems (MSS) have utilized tracking of mobiles via communication satellites and recently via SCP or LTAS airships and aircraft. Some of SCP stations have solar cells for generating power supply and some have rechargeable batteries. The proposed design of LTAS rechargeable ground platforms is described.
