Control strategy with variable commutation instants for power converters connected in paralle

The parallel connection of classical commutation cells is a good solution for increasing the output current of classical power converters. Many control strategies have been proposed to fulfill the constraints of this connection, related mainly with the good distribution of the output current among the different legs. Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a recent control strategy that uses the system's model for predicting at each sampling instant, the future behavior of all the variables of the system. This paper presents a control strategy based in MPC with variable commutation instants for controlling two classical commutation cells connected in parallel. In order to reduce the impact of the time delay taken by the controller for executing the algorithm, a solution using the symmetry of the commutations in steady state is proposed.
