Distributed birefringence measurement for optical fibers and fiber based devices

This paper presents three different methods to measure distributed birefringence based on Brillouin grating, BOTDA and Brillouin beat OTDR. The spatial resolution of less than 1 m is demonstrated with birefringence range of centimeters to a few tens of meters.
