Managing the creative engineer: A probe into the characteristics of the creative engineer, the sensitive manager, and the favorable environment

Few subjects in the management literature have produced as much abstruse verbiage as the question of how best to deal with creative people. In an effort to glean some concrete insights that would be relevant to managers of electrical engineers, Spectrum organized an ELECTRO '77 panel discussion on the topic of identifying, stimulating, and nurturing creative technical professionals. The following is a condensation of remarks made during that session as well as during preliminary meetings between the panelists and Spectrum.
