Robots do the dirty work: Some walk, some roll as they go about their tedious, hazardous chores in nuclear-power plants

We've seen it on the evening news: a robot enters a building suspected of containing a bomb. The police steer the robot remotely, watching a television screen that shows what the robot “sees.” The robot picks up the suitcase on command with its mechanical arm, then rolls out of the building and drops the suitcase into a concrete tumbler to protect the bomb squad in case it explodes.
