Power/energy: Renewable energy: Target for 2050: Massive capital investment, international cooperation, and technical breakthroughs will be key in attaining this goal

The opportunities for supplying all the world's future energy needs already exist. What is lacking is imagination, entrepreneur-ship, and leadership to take advantage of them. World leaders are needed who can articulate the goal and sell it, engineers and scientists who can do the technical planning and implementation, managers who can operate on the scale needed, and entrepreneurs who are willing to put capital on the line. Most important, farsighted politicians must be found who are willing to cooperate across national borders.
