Blind Multiuser Localization in Cognitive Radio Networks

Source localization enables a network of homogeneous receivers monitoring the radio frequency spectrum to assign unique labels to track heterogeneous emitters. When multiple emitters transmit simultaneously on the same frequency, it is desirable for network-based geolocation to take place without prior knowledge of the emitters' waveform, bandwidth and/or timing information. In this letter we describe a simple technique to associate multiple detections on the same frequency to geolocate emitters by probabilistically combining angle-of-arrival and signal strength information, and demonstrate its performance under varying channel conditions.
