The transition between granular and discontinuous GMR in sputtered Co/sub 90/Fe/sub 10//Ag multilayers

The giant magnetoresistance (GMR), structure, and magnetic properties of DC magnetron sputtered (Co/sub 90/Fe/sub 10/ 9.2 /spl Aring//Ag X /spl Aring/) multilayer films have been investigated. This CoFe thickness is unique in that a Ag thickness and annealing condition dependent transition is observed between layered granular GMR and "discontinuous" GMR behavior.
