Research on polarization characteristics of hybrid optical structure IFOG

This paper introduces a hybrid optical structure of interferometric fiber-optic gyroscope (IFOG). The IFOG is characterized by using single-mode optical fiber coupler and low-polarized light source. Through the theoretical analysis on the specialty of polarization, it makes the conclusion that the hybrid optical structure IFOG has a correspondingly lower phasic error. The testing results confirm that the IFOG is provided with considerable precision and performance. The gyro bias stability can get up to 0.008°/h (room temperature), wide range of temperature (-40~60 °C) better than 0.5°/h and, could satisfy the need of high-precision inertial navigation.
