Spatial domain forward-backward predictor with second-order statistics for bearing estimation

This paper deals with the problem of bearing estimation for narrow-band sources buried in additive white/colored Gaussian noises where the signal-to-noise ratio of interest is relatively small. To circumvent this problem, the MFBLP method with second-order statistics of linear array data is presented, and is referred to as the MFBLP-SOS method. Under the assumption that the additive noise is white Gaussian process, an analytical study of the MFBLP-SOS method is first developed. To further improve the performance, a modified MFBLP-SOS method is proposed. Finally, computer simulations are given to document the advantage of the MFBLP-SOS method of linear array data.
