Total systemic arterial compliance: evaluation of time and frequency domain methods

Systemic arterial compliance is an important determinant of the dynamic arterial load to the left ventricle. Based on linear arterial system models, the authors evaluated commonly used time and frequency domain methods for the calculation of compliance. Results show that accuracy in the assessment of arterial compliance is dependent on the differing approaches for its determination.
