E/D CMOS - A High Speed VLSI Technology

An E/D CMOS logic gate consists of several enhancement (E) mode NMOST drivers and a single depletion (D) mode PMOST load. E/D CMOS is compatible with E/E (i.e. normal) CMOS and provides the highest speed form of MOS logic when compared with E/E CMOS or E/D NMOS. Overall, E/D CMOS offers an exceptionally well balenced set of features including switching speed, power dissipation, noise immunity, scalability, process complexity and layout density compared to E/E CMOS or E/D NMOS.
