Study on location of all-dielectric self-supporting fiber-optic cables on power transmission towers

All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) fiber-optic cables have been widely used in communications of power system. As ADSS optical cables are installed on power tower with high-voltage transmission lines, it may be affected by electrical field of electrical lines. So electro-corrosion may be damaged ADSS optical cables. Therefore, it is necessary to get the best location for the installation of ADSS fiber-optic cables. ADSSPE is a kind of software, which has been applied in the dry band arch to analyze the accident caused by ADSS optical cables' rupture. In the paper, the electrical fields around several type high-voltage power towers are calculated by ADSSPE. The location method of ADSS fiber-optic cable is presented. And validity of the methods suggested in the paper can be proved practically.
