Fast Turbine Valving and Independent Pole Tripping Breaker Applications for Plant Stability

The significant improvement in plant stability offered by fast turbine valving is demonstrated from the results of transient stability studies at a fossil-fired steam plant of a large-scale power system. Rotor angle swings of the units and the resulting system power swings under a three-phase fault and stuck breaker contingency are analyzed.
